Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are English Language Learners. They live in a low-income neighborhood. They come from non-English speaking homes. Many are new to the country. They are deeply rooted in their cultural backgrounds. It is a culture shock for many who enter the English school system for the first time.

My students are excited to acquire the English Language.

School is the primary and sometimes only source for them to listen and practice the language. They rely on authentic and meaningful experiences in school.

My Project

As students are returning to school during the pandemic, maintaining physical distance has become a priority. The individual reading bags, take home storage folder, and pencil pouches will help students keep their belongings at their desk.

My students and their families have been hit hard by this pandemic and need relief.

They need support with essential supplies that will make the transition easier for them. With social distancing measures in place, it becomes increasing difficult to share materials and so we must adjust to these new norms. Providing these storage materials for their desk will help with protective measures that the classroom will need to implement during this new norm.
