Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This past school year, my classroom consisted of 21 incredible first graders who came in every single morning excited about learning, and couldn't wait to see what is in store for them that day. The students in my school district come from a very diverse variety of backgrounds and cultures. Of my 21 students, I had 4 English Language Learners in my classroom as well as 2 students who received Special Education services. I also had 17 students in my classroom who have open Response to Intervention (RTI) files. Our classroom is a community where students respect each other, and the materials and resources in the classroom.Three-quarters of our school's population qualifies for free and reduced lunch.
During the school year, many of my students mention that they do not have enough supplies and resources to bring to school, so I want to ensure that I am giving my students the best, and most enriching experiences at school every single day.
My Project
In the fall, school will look very different. I want to make sure that my students have the supplies that they need, while staying safe and healthy at the same time. Students will each have their own glue stick, scissors, box of crayons, and pencils. Students will also get their own notebook. Students will also have their own whiteboard, eraser, and marker for interactive lessons.
I want to make sure that we have the resources we need, since crayons, pencils, whiteboard markers, and glue sticks are used so frequently in first grade.
If we have to move to learning from home again, students will have enough supplies to keep up their learning from home.
