This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is a small Title I high school located in the Flatbush area of Brooklyn, NY. We are located in "Asthma Alley," and sandwiched between two major urban bridges - the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges.

All of my students are recent arrivals to the United States and English language learners.

They come from every part of the globe seeking a new life of opportunity and freedom here in the United States. They come with the hope that education will allow them to meet their full potential.

Many are on public assistance; many others are barely surviving. Yet, my students are expected to meet the same educational standards as more affluent students of New York.

My Project

We believe that students learn best by doing. To accomplish this goal we incorporate laboratory experiences in every science unit. Unfortunately, conducting laboratory activities is expensive. Due to high cost of laboratory supplies and the constant need to restock, replacing chemical reagents has been very difficult for our school.

We need your help to replace and restock the chemical reagents, and nutrient indicators that are essential to meaningful laboratory activities.

Please help us restock our depleted laboratory supplies with reagents and supplies to serve as nutrient indicators, so that we can continue to provide hands-on learning experiences. Your act of kindness and generosity will have a long lasting impact on our students.
