I've noticed that my students frequently request to work and collaborate in various places within my classroom - on the floor, standing up, lying down, you name it! It was time I incorporated a flexible seating arrangement within my classroom to accommodate their learning needs and to also give them the ability to make responsible decisions to find a space within the classroom where they can work best.
My daily classroom routine operates on a rotation schedule.
This means that there will be times throughout the ELA and math block when my students will be independently improving their skills while I conference and work with other students to teach grade-level content or to work on their individual goals and objectives. These flexible seating arrangements will be used within my classroom to benefit all students who are working independently - especially those who have special needs and require a work space that will accommodate their learning style and space.
