Incubating Young Scientific Minds by Incubating Chicks

Help me give my students the tools to hatch chicks in our classroom.

My Project

I want to give my students a memorable and interactive way to experience life cycles and adaptations. Using the incubator to hatch chicks will allow my students to have a personal and visual connection to what they are learning as they make predictions and observations. We will also be able to observe the chicks hatching and growing to investigate the adaptations that help them to survive. This unit will be able to incorporate science, reading, and writing in an authentic experience.

Incubating chicks in my classroom will help my 2nd graders to love science and ask questions about the world around them.

Our school is in a farming community where students will be able to directly relate their learning to their community needs and interests. These tools will be able to be reused year after year to educate and inspire a generation of students.
