My Project
Often fluency practice is done as individuals with texts that are long. These books will allow students to read together using creative texts. I plan to use these books with my students as we study the different genres. They are delightful so students will want to read more. There are six books so they will last the entire year.
When students struggle to read, school becomes long and difficult.
When students have to spend large amounts of time decoding words, that is where all of their effort goes, not into comprehending what they are reading. Building their fluency lets them focus on what they are reading. When you understand what is going on, your love of reading increases.
My students work hard and genuinely want to improve. I want to make our practice more enjoyable.
