My Students

My students from a small Title I school in rural Utah struggle accessing the general education curriculum due to speech and language delays. These amazing students are passionate about learning and have a love for school, even though they face many obstacles throughout their day which have been complicated due to COVID-19. The excitement shown by these remarkable students when they achieve goals and accomplish new tasks is contagious and makes working with them the most rewarding occupation!

My Project

It is obvious that speech and language skills play important roles in education. With language being such a critical part of any child’s development, it is critical that students get access to enriched instruction that is fun and engaging.

With COVID-19 and at-home learning, there seems to be an increase in students that struggle with speech and/or language.

These delays make it hard to access the general education because language plays a major role in learning. These materials and games will assist in helping my students develop the necessary speech/language skills that are needed to be successful in school. This will be done by providing them a sensory rich environment and making learning fun and engaging through incentives and exciting games.
