This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My fourth graders are happy, fun loving individuals. They do not realize just how talented they truly are. They are like hidden gems, they posses talents that are hidden behind their standardized test results. Most of them are English Language Learners. Although my English Language Learners struggle with the English language, they work very hard, they come ready to work and give 110% effort each and every day.
My students are amazing!
We have so much fun learning. I strive to provide a safe place where they feel free to express themselves, through their individual talents. My students are wise beyond their years, and I have learned a lot from them.
My Project
My students currently practice their reading skills by listening to readings on iPads. I often read to them aloud while they follow along. I believe that listening while reading helps them to understand what is being read more efficiently. I also believe that when they listen, they are able to hear the proper pronunciation of each word and learn proper sentence structure. The earbuds and speaker will be instrumental in accomplishing this, especially for English Language Learners.
With the earbuds, students will be able to concentrate and focus as they listen to stories, articles and poetry and students will be able to listen more efficiently as I use the speaker and microphone to read to them.
My Students will learn new vocabulary, increase their reading skills and fluency, while they acquire a love of reading.
