This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

One our goals this school year is engaging our students.

And I am working on many different ways to keep my students engaged, including increasing response rates and keeping students in my class (i.e.

avoiding bathroom trips).

My 2 ways to accomplish this is by:

1. Asking students to write their responses on a mini whiteboard so I can see their responses.

2. I want to try to use the giant rubber bands that go on the desks to help students who are fidgety.

I usually am able to get my hands on dry erase markers either through my school or my personal budget, but it gets quite expensive and they run out very quickly. So, I'm hoping this project will get funded to alleviate that problem.

Also, I've never tried the giant rubber bands, but I do have a lot of students this school year that are unable to sit still for more than 10 minutes at a time.

Every time I use the white boards, my students are really engaged and participate at a much higher rate than when I resort to traditional teaching (i.e. write your answer on paper). So, I already know the mini whiteboards are effective, which is why it's my go-to teaching strategy.
