Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My class of 23 diverse, urban kindergarten students love to explore the world around them through hands on activities. Most of my students live below the poverty line, are English language learners, and have not attended preschool.

This year our class size has increased due to governmental budget issues. Suddenly, I find myself with a deficit of materials necessary for all students to fully experience our daily learning centers.

I am writing this grant in the hopes of bolstering our centers to provide access to all of the students in my kindergarten classroom. Hands on experiences are so crucial to early childhood development and my students have precious little opportunities outside of school to explore and practice. There is a time and place for sharing and taking turns, but I feel that centers are a time that I want to maximize each students learning experience. The materials I am requesting will enable me to supplement my existing math, literacy, and motor skills centers and reinforce literacy and mathematics concepts through engaging puzzles, magnet activities, and letter and sign lacing.

Please help me give each child in my classroom an opportunity to have enriching, exciting learning experiences that will build a foundation of future learning. You can help my students learn to their maximum potential and reach grade level standards by experiencing tall and short, shape and size, matching items to numbers, stringing the alphabet, and sorting and classifying all while having fun and practicing learning concepts.
