My students need 2 books and 12 audio books, such as "Long Shot," "Tuck Everlasting," and "Al Capone Shines my Shoes," to improve their reading fluency and comprehension.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you remember when you discovered your love for reading? Imagine how frustrated you would have been if every time you opened up a book to relax, you quickly became frustrated because of the task of reading. My students love to read but would benefit from the use of audio books.
My students may face many challenges: low socioeconomic status, learning and reading disabilities, and even learning a second language.
However, my middle school students face these challenges every day and work to improve their reading and writing. They work to improve their reading skills so they can be successful in the general education setting.
My Project
My students need 12 audio books, such as Long Shot,Tuck Everlasting and Al Capone Shines my Shoes, to improve their reading fluency and comprehension. Audio books would help my students improve their reading fluency and comprehension. Not only would students be able to read along with the book, they are exposed to the wonderful world of imagination. Students are exposed to new vocabulary, higher level reading books, and books they might not be able to read on their own without an audio version.
By using audio books, I can foster my students' love for learning by taking the frustration out of reading.
Students will have access to grade appropriate books that grab their interest and encourage their love for reading.
