My Students
Imagine how different your life would be without access to modern technology. No computer. No iPad. No smartphone. My students are growing up in a time where these forms of technology have become a part of our everyday lives. Unfortunately, they have little access to them both in and out of school.
I have 23 enthusiastic and creative second grade students.
They love coming to school and are eager to learn. Our school has more than 1,000 students from pre-k to eighth grade. It is a Title 1 school, which means that many of my students' families are living below the poverty line. Approximately 85% of the students receive free lunch. Our school is in a low-income neighborhood where the budget cuts have left no hope that materials will be purchased in the near future.
My Project
We currently have two iPads in our classroom and my students love using them. However, each student only gets to use an iPad a couple of times a week because there are 23 students and two iPads. My students need more access to technology and this additional iPad would provide that. It would allow my students to use an iPad regularly throughout the week instead of just once or twice. This may not seem like much, but it would make a huge difference!
This iPad Mini will increase my students' knowledge of and ability to use technology as well as enhance their learning in all subject areas. They will use it to practice their math facts, read books, watch educational videos, search for information on the Internet, and much more! The possibilities of what they can do and learn with an iPad Mini are endless!
The OtterBox case will help to protect the iPad Mini so that many future classes will be able to use this technology.
