This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This year, our class has no technology class because there was no funding available. Our class also has no computers because the over the summer all of the computers (that were ten years old or older) were removed and not replaced. Our students need to be able to learn basic computer skills.
Our class is a first grade inclusion class.
This means that we have some students that receive special education services including speech, occupational therapy, and physical therapy, and students that are considered general education students. We also have a large percentage of students that are English language learners that have recently arrived in America. We have twenty-eight students in our class.
My Project
Our students will be able to use this computer to work on one-on-one assignments in the areas they need the most help in. For example, students struggling in our new math program will be able to work on Math support. Students struggling in reading will be able to use programs that have books read to them. Students struggling in writing will be able to work on word processing.
Having a computer that is assigned directly to our classroom means that our students will be able to use the computer at any time throughout the day.
Right now, any technology in the building must be shared by many classrooms and it is difficult to get computers when they are needed.
