I teach at a Title I school in North Carolina. Our school teaches globalized learning to students representing more than 35 different countries around the world. I have the privilege of teaching 17, energetic 4th grade boys in a single gender classroom. My students come from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds. Despite many challenges beyond their control, our students come to school eager to learn each day. We use technology to enhance the learning experience for these 21st century scholars. Our schools offers students a world of opportunities.
My Project
Children need to move! These items will allow my students to bounce, wobble rock, lean or stand in the classroom. Movement increases the oxygen flow to the brain, blood flow and core strength. This will help my students meet their daily movement goal as well as keep their young minds more alert and focused while learning. This will also give my students the opportunity to develop their decision making skills when choosing a flexible seating option. The math games will give my students the opportunity to explore fundamental math steps and increase their confidence and understanding of math concepts and strategies.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
