Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students have access to myself (the education specialist) and a general education teacher for multiple periods a day while they learn English content. This model allows for all students, but especially students with specialized learning needs, to have access to critical content knowledge through multiple avenues and lenses.
Having technology in our classroom will allow for one teacher to model how to take notes, complete activities, and utilize accessibility tools while the other teacher is providing direct instruction.
The duality of instruction will allow teachers to meet students' needs better.
Teachers can take visual notes on the iPad that can be quickly and easily shared with students who need them. Additionally, the iPad can be used to record critical lessons that can be posted and shared with students who were absent or need to review the content. Lastly, teachers can model how to use accessibility tools, such as a read-aloud.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
