My Students

My classroom consists of amazing, diverse third graders of all abilities! Our school consists of 50.2% economically

disadvantaged students.

Many of my students report they do not have access to books at home.

These sweet 8 and 9 year old students come from many different backgrounds, both ethnically and socio-economically. My students are mathematicians, book-loving, avid readers, and enthusiastic learners. They work hard and they love to learn.

My Project

I am requesting a selection of books that will represent all of my learners! Students will be able to choose from a wide variety of texts that represent them and their interests. This project would bring new and exciting book titles to my classroom library that students will love!

It is important to me that every student in my room feels represented in the texts they see while reading.

A culturally responsive book selection is so critical. Students from a variety of backgrounds deserve to see characters they recognize when selecting books from a bookshelf. I want all of my students to love reading!
