Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Resilient, zesty, and innovative are just a few words that describe the curious minds of our rising 4th graders! Each scholar comes from a rich and thriving culture in the Boyle Heights community within East Los Angeles. Their school is composed of a student body population that is 95% Latino/Hispanic.

Promesa means promise in Spanish.

As a school, we believe every student thrives in a rigorous academic program focused on literacy, nurtures a strong sense of self through character development, and celebrates the enduring legacy of our community. Students will leave as proud and driven leaders that take risks, persevere, and positively impact their community and society through their thoughts and actions.

My Project

Our amazing students have a strong desire to make their voices heard and are eager to learn more about the world around them. The anchor texts in this project will introduce our rising 4th graders to the power of storytelling as they discuss why sharing our life experiences is important.

Our goal is for students to draw their own conclusions that are grounded in facts and diverse perspectives and recollections of people, places, and events.

By reading about new perspectives and life experiences, our students will learn that being vulnerable builds connections and grows our relationships with others.
