Do you remember when you first learned to read and write? If you do, you know how important it is to have a positive experience in order to reach your maximum potential.
My students are in a low income Title one Elementary school.
My students are five and six years old and are all of various reading and writing levels. Regardless of their level they are all excited each day to open and read a book or draw and write about a new experience or tell a fictional story.
My Project
Envision a classroom with materials that will help reach all diverse learners. Guided Reading and small group instruction is so important. My students are excited each day to have small group instruction and one on one instruction. Using these materials students will make progress connecting letters to letter sounds, recognize sight words and improving their fluency and comprehension. Students who struggle with fine motor skills will also use these new innovative pencil grips to improve their handwriting and fine motor. I have requested tactile and textured sight word cards on 3 different levels, sight word bingo, textured writing paper with raised lines, pencil grips, sand tray to increase letter recognition and whisper phones to increase letter sound pronunciation.
Learning to read and write in kindergarten is so crucial to a child's academic development.
Students feel a since of confidence when they have made progress and growth in literacy. These tools will be used as intervention tools to assist with student's growth and development in the areas of reading and writing. Please help my students continue to love literacy.
