My Project
We work in a highly specialized field that helps high school students with social and emotional disabilities navigate the complex relationships that come with growing up and heading into adulthood.
A large portion of our students come from traumatic pasts, live in foster homes with no real place to call their own and access frequent mental health supports.
Our classroom becomes the safe space that they can consider home. We do our best to meet our students where they are and help them navigate the complexities of their day-to-day lives. The adults who work in our program do their best to make this space as welcoming as possible and to help our students feel comfortable and at home in a space where they spend a large portion of their day.
These supplies like the 7lb Weighted Sensory Blanket, magnetic sand and other multi sensory tools will ultimately help our students be successful not only in their academics but in their practices of self-awareness, self-management, relationship building, responsible decision making and social awareness. Our ultimate goal is that students can utilize these resources in order to re-engage with their neurotypical peers in the classroom setting.
We our hopeful that these supplies will help us continue on an upward trajectory towards all of our students gaining the skill sets they need to be able to thrive in the adult world that is waiting for them when they graduate.
Thank you for helping us make those dreams come true.
