Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My elementary students are filled with wonder and awe as teachers all over the world use books to inspire, guide, and teach character and emotional learning traits. My students are awesome individuals with a wide array of needs, socially and emotionally.

Literature is something that they love to hear as they embark on a journey while learning about character, social, or emotional traits.

All my students come from Latin American countries and they identify as Hispanics. We live in a world where they do not have representation in books or do not have figures to look up to. Every month we have a small project dedicated to someone whose origin is Hispanic, African American, Arabic... so they can realize that any racial aspect is an issue to become who they want to be. They can change the world if that's what their goal in life is (medicine, teaching, laws...).

It is also an opportunity for students to see themselves in stories. It is important for students to feel their culture represented in the books we read.
