My Project
Dr. Seuss wrote, "The more that you read, the more things you will know." Studies show what common sense tells us: the more kids read, the better they read, and the more pleasure they get out of reading.
Kids will learn reading skills in school, but often they come to associate reading with work, not pleasure.
As a result, they lose their desire to read. And it is that desire, the curiosity and interest, that is the cornerstone to using reading and related skills successfully.
I am requesting the Inchy Bookworm Vending Machine for our students to be used as a school-wide reading incentive. Students can earn a gold coin, which will allow them to pick one book from the book vending machine. Students will be rewarded for positive behavior, hard work, and good attendance. This works perfectly with our school's PBIS incentive program.
Igniting our students’ passion for reading by vending their favorite books and allowing them to take them home would not only boost a child’s literacy but also strengthen family bonds through shared reading experiences.
We will display our new book vending machine in a high-traffic area where it will become a constant visual reminder of the importance of reading. This combination of book vending and a rewards system holds the potential to bridge the gap between literacy and engagement. Let's bring the excitement to reading books again!
