My Students
We are a school in a low-income area. Many of our students don't have the basic necessities to come to school or the means to purchase necessary supplies. At our school, we often give out vouchers for free school uniforms because parents cannot afford to purchase uniforms. We have given out book bags filled with supplies to the neediest students so that they can have their basic classroom needs met. Other students may start with materials but lose track of them due to many housing moves throughout the year. The majority of the students are on free or reduced lunch. I love my students' desire to learn, their lack of resources can stifle the ability to do their best.
My students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom.
Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to provide my students with meaningful learning experiences. Their desire to learn is strong and many are optimistic to push through the challenges that they are presented with. If given the tools, my students can soar academically.
My Project
By providing incentives to my students while they are working remotely from home will motivate them to strive for success. Due to covid19 in my city, my students have been faced with a challenging experience with online school. They don't feel successful with the online school. They miss being in the classroom daily.
I want to offer them a chance to earn virtual rewards that would ultimately provide them with a smile and assist with their confidence.
Being elementary at home completing assignments independently is a task worth rewarding. The gift cards will not only bring a smile to their face, but some will provide much-needed supplies. My students deserve to be rewarded for pushing through during these times.
