My Project
My students love to dance, sing, move, and groove, to their own beats. As a first-year kindergarten teacher, I’m quickly learning that my kinders need to build basic phonemic and phonological awareness through multi-sensory experiences. My students are currently learning academic norms as this is their first experience in school due to COVID-19. Due to COVID-19 the costs of preschool rose which caused parents to not apply my students for pre-schooling, and caused preschools to ultimately shut down nearby. My students love to learn through experiences that require their whole body to be involved, not just using their hands to write, and their eyes to read. I have been struggling with out-of-pocket expenses providing developmentally appropriate and fun experiences for my students' needs and love for multi-sensory learning. I kindly ask for donations so that I can provide my students with kinetic, physical, visual, and mental experiences within my learning centers and large group meetings. I am asking for differentiated writing tools including alphabet tubs for my students to recognize alphabets and their sounds in multi-sensory ways, magnetic drawing boards, alphabet playdough mats, and a giant writing page. My students would love whatever they are offered, and I greatly appreciate the kokua, "malama kekahi i kekahi," aloha.
