Help me give my students the joy of a prize store in my classroom! Students in my class thrive off of positive reinforcement, but are starting to get tired of the same incentives and random pieces of candy.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Hi! I am the teacher of a class full of 30 bright and independent second grade scholars! The scholars in my class come from the inner city of Chicago, and most receive free or reduced-price lunch. Our charter school serves scholars in grades K-6 and provides the academic foundation to earn a college degree. With this in mind, scholars are pushed to their limits and given rigorous academic work and feedback to prepare them for success. We are a Level 1 plus school and pride ourselves on having high standards and expectations for our scholars!
To break the cycle of poverty, college readiness is crucial.
These scholars are exposed to many things at such a young age. Coming from such low-income backgrounds, these children are denied crucial necessities like technology. Communicating with the outside world in this day and age is something these children need to experience. Through technology, my scholars will be able to communicate, conduct research, and see the world in a whole new way!
My Project
Students in my class this year have been all over the place with their behavior and attendance. This year, I decided to do a 'ticket store', to help regulate behavior. Students get tickets for good behavior, participation, and attendance that they can use at our store.
These prizes help students get to school on time, participate in their own learning, and help hold them accountable for spending money (tickets) wisely on things they want in the ticket store!
Students want to be in school and learn to get cool and awesome prizes!
