My Students
I believe that every student should walk into a well-stocked classroom where they will always have the supplies to create, learn, and explore new ideas.
Welcome to a 3rd grade, bilingual classroom full of hard-working, enthusiastic students!
My bilingual classroom is the landing spot for 3rd graders who have just arrived in the United States. My students are incredibly hard workers who always come to school ready to learn, no matter what is going on outside of the classroom. My goal as a teacher is to provide my students with all that they need to be successful learners.
My Project
My students are avid readers. They love to try new books and read about different people and places. Frequently, I find myself stopping class a bit early so my students have time to take new books from our classroom library. However, one thing that our classroom library is lacking is enough books that reflect my students' own life experiences.
Having more books that reflect my students' own life experiences will not only help them become more avid readers, but will get them excited about reading and writing!
Earlier this week, I asked my students what kinds of things they would like to add to our classroom. Books were the number one answer. These books were all chosen based on the books my students love to read and on the types of books that my students have said they want to read. I think books that tell stories and incorporate cultural elements familiar to my students will strengthen their love of reading and encourage them to not just read more, but to write their own stories as well. With your support, my students will have more diverse books available to them every day and will be inspired by seeing elements of their own lives reflected in the books they read.
