Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The love of music shines in every student who enters my classroom as they know that what we learn everyday in class will make their lives brighter and connects all individuals around the world by a simple note or rhythm. My students enter a world of endless possibilities where each individual will become part of a team and learning is built on compassion for each other in order to create music.

The students in my program are all part of a title 1 school, and are in dire need of new equipment.

Even though most of our student population is economically burdened, my students come to my class with the will to learn, and strive to achieve a higher success in academics through the help of what our program stands for. Every child will get a well rounded education at our school and with the team work of being part of band, they will become well rounded citizens and adults.

Students who come through our classroom all radiate pride you can see and feel!

My Project

The REBEL band program provides the opportunity for students to develop the technical performance skills, knowledge, and understanding of music necessary to make music a part of their lives. Students will develop the critical thinking skills at every level of band education, which will enable them to appreciate music on an independent level throughout life. The critical thinking developed through band training will enhance the development of thinking skills needed in other academic areas.

The band program assists students in developing knowledge of our musical heritage, which is necessary to become a discerning listener and/or performer.

Students learn to make knowledgeable and discriminating judgments about the music that they hear.

Training received in the REBEL band program will enable the students to feel confident in their abilities to be a part of the community as amateur performers. They will be prepared, should they choose music as a career, to enter a professional training program in a high school, college or conservatory. Aesthetic education gained throughout all levels of participation in the program will enhance the individual‘s appreciation of the arts for life.

All these aspects of our Jazz Band curriculum will be enhanced by the implementation of a new drum set that our students will come to utilize on a daily practice and performance!
