My Students

My students are extremely talented artists that want to explore new techniques, processes, and ways of thinking. The ideas that they have for are unbelievable, and I'm amazed on a daily basis with the ingenuity they posses, especially during current events. From problem solving deforestation to creating blueprints of technology to help protect essential workers from Covid-19, my students are ready to expand their knowledge of technique and process to best convey their ideas.

I want to provide a classroom environment filled with endless opportunities for ALL learners and feed their thirst for knowledge, critical thinking, and problem solving they have for their community.

Knowing that each student is receiving the education they deserve makes me even more excited to be their teacher!

My Project

Students are always wanting to learn how to sculpt with clay, and providing that opportunity is what I strive for!

Students will utilize the clay to create "ruins" based on their chosen culture's architecture.

After completing research and planning sketches, students will be able to begin building their structure utilizing slabs, scoring, slipping, and applying texture with clay tools where needed. Using this project as an introduction to clay is important because although a collapsed structure can shake a student's confidence, this project is meant to be a broken down building! It is quite literally a "no fail" type of project. They may be in ruins but are never ruined.
