This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Creative, talented, mischievous, neurodiverse, multi-lingual, courageous, and curious are just some of the words that come to mind when I think of my amazing fourth graders. They are eager to learn and have wonderful aspirations! They are future veterinarians, musicians, doctors, teachers, athletes, app developers, and clothing designers, just to name a few of their hopes and dreams.
Yet many of these same children face challenges and traumas that others won't face in an entire lifetime.
All of my students qualify for and receive free breakfast and lunch. We have a high population of English language learners, many still in the early stages of acquiring English, and we have a significant number of neurodiverse students. Now Covid-19 has presented us with an unprecedented situation that none of us could have anticipated, and they are responding beautifully! Despite these challenges, my students come to school every day. It is to recognize their commitment to learning and to acknowledge the difficulties they are facing that I hope to fulfill this request.
My Project
TpT (Teachers Pay Teachers) is full of amazing resources that have been adapted for use in school, at home, or when we are in a hybrid learning situation. Every conceivable subject has resources available and I already use many in my classroom. There are even BOOM cards (check out their site if you are not familiar with them). Many of the activities that are on TpT are designed to be printable and/or used online, which is simply amazing and meets the moment beautifully. Additionally, these resources are created by teachers with Common Core State Standards in mind, which takes the guesswork out of it for teachers like me. I have found resources thoughtfully designed by professionals who know how to engage children in activities that are creative, challenging, and adaptable for diverse students and classroom situations.
