Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Year after year, my students have walked into the school building and our classroom with smiles eager to learn. In our classroom, we focus on respecting and helping one another. While this year is very different, we continue to focus on respecting each other. During morning meeting, my hybrid group greets one another every day in a different language. They love it and look forward to beginning their day speaking a new language.
My students are all English Language Learners.
They are learning English together while remembering their native languages and cultures. This school year, my students are learning both remotely and in-person. The school I teach at is a Title I school, and all students receive free breakfast and lunch.
My Project
Being able to provide my students with reading resources during remote instruction will increase both their reading and confidence levels! Teaching English Language Learners, I've always realized how reading is a struggle. Unable to complete the first grade with the support of live instruction this year they face an even greater challenge.
I would love to be able to provide my students with small group instruction to improve their literacy skills.
After searching various sites, I've found some great digital reading resources that are compatible with Google Classrooms on Teachers Pay Teachers. My students will benefit greatly with these resources made by other teachers who understand what they need.
