This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a middle school music teacher in an inner-city school, and I teach students from 6th to 8th grade. Most of my students come from a low socioeconomic background in an area infected with gangs and drugs. Many of my students, mostly poor, tell me that music class is the reason they stay in school.
I have been making progress, but I am still a long way away from having all of my students on working instruments.
We are in need of ink for our printer. We use our printer dedicated solely to band so that students have easy access to printing and copying.
My Project
With the use of this printer, my students will be able to print and copy lyrics, biographies of music artists, and have a chance to create and share their own song creations by printing right in the classroom. Our closest access to a printer is a good distance away from us since we are located at the back of our school campus. This distance makes it unattainable for our use. Therefore, printed projects do not come easy for us.
Your donations will give my students the opportunity to create within the classroom.
This will eliminate lost papers being printed across campus and then picked up by others. Also, most of my students come from low income homes where technology is lacking. This will enable them to use up-to-date technology to instill further learning attributes.
