This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are in the 4th grade and need to understand the basics of adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing which are very important skills they need in order to succeed this year.

Our school is a Title 1 school and the majority of students qualifies for a free lunch.

My students come from a high poverty neighborhood with a very diverse range of home structures. Some of the students in my class are not working at grade level in reading and/or math. My students are eager to learn and enjoy anything that has to do with technology and hands-on activities.

My Project

Imagine sitting at a computer and being able to hear your neighbor's computer because of having no headphones. I am requesting 24 pairs of headphones so that each student can have his/her own pair to use during independent work time. We have some Chromebooks in our classroom. Some of my students are not working at grade level in reading and math. There is a great variety of websites with interactive games and lessons that can help them with practicing different skills that we learn in class. However it is very difficult for all of us to learn if they have them with the volume on. The headphones will help us keep the noise level down during our work time.

My project is very important because these headphones will allow my students to work quietly during independent work time.

They will also be able to work at their computer stations without having to hear their neighbor's computer.
