In Need of Classic Novels for Our New Lending Library!

My Students
I work in West Philadelphia where the families have very limited resources to help support their children's literacy needs. Recently, I had the chance to revitalize the school library. For years, this space has not been used, and our students have been thrilled to experience a transformed space to learn, listen, and read. Students at our school come to class without pencils, paper, folders, and many times without even breakfast. We are a K-8 school with approximately 800 students. The students I teach are excited to learn and happy to be a part of our school community. However, materials and supplies are almost non-existent and need to be purchased by the teachers. Students here love to read and need all the support they can get.
My Project
The students are really enjoying our new library space at our school. But, we are in need of full classroom sets of books where all of us can sit down as a class to enjoy the same novel and be on the same page as we learn. The students want to all hold the book in their own hands as we learn and discuss the plot, character and theme. They want to be able to read with a partner and even take it home . Getting your support with this project would mean so much to my scholars .
Reading and learning is a lifelong passion that I hope to keep alive within each and everyone of my students.
With a book in hand, learning through these many diverse novels, I hope to keep this excitement and motivation alive !
