My Students
Help us make every minute count in Math class. When your pencil sharpener doesn't work well, they will stand and try to sharpen their pencil for up to 5 minutes. Help us to draw accurate circles with the use of protractors.
6th and 7th grade teenagers will find any reason in the world to procrastinate doing their work.
A broken pencil is the perfect excuse. And when your pencil sharpener does not work well, or at all, they will stand there for 5 minutes if allowed to sharpen their pencil. The math part of making a circle is hard enough, but when you don't have protractors to use, the job becomes impossible.
My Project
Rather than estimating what a circle graph looks like it is so important that students know exactly how big each piece of the pie should be in a pie graph. Once they figure out the degrees of each piece, they need a protractor in order to construct the circle graph.
Every minute of instruction is so important in Math to be able to cover all of the state standards that are required.
Having a pencil sharpener that works well could save minutes every day.
