My students need these materials to use during center time. Math and Science are best learned through exploration. I want to provide my students the opportunity to have ownership of their learning.

My Students
I have the joy of teaching Kindergarten in a neighborhood school. We receive Title One funding because more than 50% of our population received free or reduced lunch. Students range in ability because some have attended preschool and others have not. They are excited and eager to learn through play! Students range in age from 5 to 6. The classroom is set up as center based with emphasis on building relationships and working together to complete task in each area.
My Project
These materials will provide the opportunity for students to master math and science standards through exploration. Students will use the materials while in centers and small groups. Having a variety of materials allows the teacher to change the content of the center to fit the need of each student or group.
My students are so excited to come to school each day to participate in centers.
The students are eager to get "their hands" on materials. Through trial and error they are in control of their understanding of the materials and therefore develop a sense of ownership for the content.
