Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
It is true that âA picture speaks a thousand words.â Unfortunately, the pictures that have been going into my students'scrapbooks have not said much.
I teach 5th graders at a public elementary school in Southern California.
My group of students love to be challenged and crave the opportunity to work on creative projects.
However, they do not have the means to use on fancy and expensive materials that can take a project to the next level.
My Project
Producing a 5th Grade scrapbook will fulfill several purposes. Not only will students create a lasting memory of their accomplishments, they will also walk away with a new vision of the world around them. It is my desire to develop both self-expression and independence in my students by allowing them to become the photographers. By doing so, students will also add to their technological skills as they learn to handle a camera and a printer.
This project will be an opportunity to feed my students' creative needs.
As my students begin to explore and appreciate photography as a visual art, I expect that the long term benefit will be to build their self-confidence. This of course is, priceless.
