This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The books in this project are specifically selected based on the SIPPS reading intervention library suggestions for high-engagement reading that accelerate the growth of emerging readers. Based on the SIPPS suggestions I worked with some of my struggling readers this year, and these were a hit! So, I'm hoping to have copies easily available during our reading time each day.

We know one of the best ways to become a stronger reader is to read more, so having high-interest options for students can help students catch up on what they missed during COVID!

This project is funding some of the most popular graphic novels that students choose for our sustained silent reading each day.

I've also added marker sets to this project while the matching funds are in place! While most of the funds will go towards books, but having basic art supplies allows us to engage students in processing and presenting their learning. Whether it's making posters for their favorite book from each grading period or creating anchor charts for our vocabulary, markers let our learners learn in a space they helped design.

I bought my first set of markers my second year of teaching, and they're now in need of replacement! I've got enough for each student in a class to have one and then to have 4 spare sets.
