Do you own an iPad or have you ever had the chance to use one? Then you already know all of the incredible things that the iPad is capable of. Now imagine being a 6-year-old child using the iPad to learn. Wouldn't you have so much more fun then learning using a pencil and paper?
I teach in a high-poverty school in New York City.
Due to major budget cuts, there is a big lack of technology in my school. In an age where some schools include smart boards, LCD projectors and document cameras in every single classroom, we have just a handful of each of these items for the entire school. This makes it hard for teachers to include technology in their daily lessons. In a world where students tend to gravitate more towards video games and television then books and playing outside, technology in the classroom is extremely important.
My Project
By donating to this project, you would help to provide an iPad to our classroom, along with millions of varied learning opportunities. My students yearn for more technology in the classroom and I am trying to do whatever I can to provide this to them. If we had an iPad, I would be able to whole class, small group and individual lessons depending on the needs of each student. In addition, I would be able to provide experiences to my students that they so desperately crave. My students need 1 iPad, a heavy duty case and a screen protector to help enrich their learning.
In the year 2013, everything is digital and it is important for students to be provided with experience using technology at a young age.
Many of them are getting these experiences outside of school, so when they are in class, there is a huge disconnect. If you donate to this project, you would be helping us to form a much stronger bond between the students preferred method of learning and the way that we actually learn!
