In 1 Year 181 students Can Benefit from a Computer!
My students need a computer to see online science media projected in the classroom and currently we work on an 8 year old computer with very inadequate hardware.
FULLY FUNDED! Mr. Zumba's classroom raised $2,542

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
In order to get my students to visualize and apply physical science concepts, I like to develop units that incorporate a project-based approach in which research and the use of interactive media are essential.
Every year I have students who come to me with excitement and stories of their siblings or close friends as to how I teach physical science.
They cannot wait for me to teach them about motion, forces and the structure of matter since most of my units incorporate a project-base approach. My students are very inquisitive and often question how science or scientist have developed the theories and concepts we cover in class. Their hunger for, show me who or how we know what we know in science, is my fuel in developing rich interactive lessons that students use to develop the skills needed to tackle real life problems. Although I teach a very diverse group of kids, my goal every year is to develop their thinking skills and change their opinion of what a scientist should look like. I want to empower them to seek knowledge and understanding of their world. Finally, they should know how to develop meaningful questions and conduct careful investigation for scientific knowledge to continue.
My Project
As mentioned before, I like to develop units that incorporate a project-based approach in which research and the use of interactive media are essential. For me to allow my students to explore the real world while being enclosed within four walls, I must bring the world to them through the use of a computer. There are so many reliable resources and interactive media that my students can benefit from just by having access to the outside world through technology. One of the units that my students look forward to is the solar system. They are so intrigue in how it works and what could be out there. At the same time they come to my classroom with many misconceptions that can easily be corrected with the opportunity to visualize the words they read.
Our physical science class book (published in 2007) lacks up to date information.
A donation of a computer to our classroom will allow my students to go beyond our four walls and explore and research the problems humans face today and help them plan their experiments and solutions based on real and current data. Finally, we will be able to take advantage of the many digital media educational resources that will allow for a deeper understanding of our world.
