My Project

My training has been mainly with rules-based reading and phonics. However, current research explains the importance of phonological awareness as a foundation for becoming efficient decoders.

This course will explain terminologies such as orthographic mapping, orthographic lexicon, and phonemic awareness.

It will teach the correct production of the 44 sounds of the English language. This professional development will help me to be able to assess students in phonemic awareness, incorporate multi-sensory strategies in phonemic awareness activities. and to implement one-minute phonemic awareness activities. It will also give me some physical materials to support my instruction next school year.
