My students are from a rural area and often have limited accessibility to enriching experiences offered in larger cities. I try to provide them with highly engaging reading materials and activites to support such enrichment.
Many of my students are also struggling with higher anxiety due to pandemic related stress but they show up everyday and try their best!
I hope to offer them some tools to assist them in managing this anxiety. I have also been trying to address Covid learning loss by providing materials for students struggling with reading, language and math at their level.
My Project
All of my students want to be successful in school but are struggling with higher levels of anxiety and lower reading levels than in previous years. I hope to provide them with enriching materials at their reading level, clay and art supplies to support projects around these texts, and give them anxiety coping tools with funding support from this Donor's Choose grant.
I have also included STEM magnet activities for groups.
Not only are they educational and an area in which my classroom is lacking in hands on materials, but they are a soothing activity that opens up a child's mind to the wonders of magnetism.
All students want to learn and with the right tools and support, they will!
