Help me give my students tools where they can freely express their feelings about a particular situation but are also held accountable by their actions.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My class is composed of low-income, second language learners, recent arrivals and resource students. They are eager, compassionate, and determine to learn their second language. My students are caring and empathetic of each other as I deliver circle time in the mornings.
My students need resources that will target their needs in this time of crisis.
I need to provide effective practices to my students and make it interactive, as well as immense discussion throughout our virtual lessons.
They need me to be able to display live content material, as well as model lessons in reading, math, and oral skills.
Participation is important for my English learners as they practice their oral skills, read live text as we track together, see their peers work displayed, discuss strategies and ideas as I write them down live. In these times, my EL's need support that allows them to have the content area to be displayed and they can interact with.
My Project
I would like the use of restorative justice materials for my students. As we start settling back into our classrooms these materials will help my students to understand their emotions and how to react to certain situations they may find themselves in the classroom or as they face the world throughout their lives.
Restorative Justice in my classroom will focus on responsibility, respect, and accountability for misbehavior through mediation and understanding.
Books, discussion and modeling situations will allow for my students to know what to do before encountering situations that may lead to rule violations or misbehavior.
