This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach at a middle school with a 21% proficiency rate in reading (based on the most recent data found) and more than 75% minority enrollment. My students are 6th, 7th, and 8th grade special education students who I absolutely love to teach. My goal for the upcoming school year is to improve the students proficiency rate by having a fully stocked classroom library. I would like to start now so that by the time the school year begins, it can hopefully be complete. Giving the students a complete library full of books that they enjoy and find interesting can only fuel their love of reading. Please help me teach the students that books can be a window allowing them to see into another world full of fantasy, mystery, suspense, and so much more! Your donation will help me begin this classroom library and foster their love of reading. Thank you!
