My Students

I teach many students that are inspired by art, but aren't able to take it to the next level because budget cuts have made it hard to provide the materials.

I teach at a school that has a high percentage of free or reduced lunch.

Many of these students turn to the visual arts to express themselves in a positive way. These students deserve to have the best art materials available for them to use. We are now providing the chance for students to take higher level classes including AP Studio art.

My Project

I am always amazed to see the talent and creativity that my students show. When they accomplish a beautiful piece of art or even just see improvements in their skills, you can see the excitement in their eyes. I would like for my students to have the chance to use soft pastel pencils. I am requesting a classroom set of pastel pencils. Many students like the quality that pastels have, but they would like to create a piece with more detail. Pastel pencils will give them the chance to accomplish that task.

Providing higher quality art materials will improve the students confidence in their chance at creating more aesthetically pleasing work.

Higher quality materials will also give them a better chance when applying and getting into art school.
