Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

A typical day in our class consist of modeling, guided, and independent learning. Our class is always working hard so all can be academically successful. Our favorite quote is: "The more that you learn, the more places you'll go" My goal is to have all student on level by the end of the school year.

Our 4th grade class consist of Regular Education and Gift and Talented students.

Our class is made up of very enthusiastic students who are always ready and willing to learn. Our class consist of students which all learn at different pace using different methods. Regardless what is thrown our way, we all work together to overcome our struggles. Our class attends L Elementary which is located in a very low socio economic area. Ninety-eight percent of our school receives free lunch, and all students receives breakfast in the classroom. The majority of our students live with relatives or grandparents. We know that they live really hard lives and some have learned to become very independent. We work hard to keep students believing, engaged, and motivated to continue learning. We want all of our students to succeed today and in the future. We know that our students are still young and easy to persuade, so we are always working hard to keep them positive and and with high self-esteem.

My Project

Our class is requesting 2 iPads and 2 protective covers, to be used during guided lessons, groups will follow along while teacher is guiding them. Our class would like a five student iPad workstation area so all can work at their own level and pace. Teacher will assess students understanding, by students writing on Kids blog what they learned, knew, and want to learn about financial literacy. Students can create a story about financial literacy using the iPad: students can take photos, interview people, and demonstrate how to. Students will work in small groups at different workstation using games to learn place value, money value, spending, saving, budgeting, and earning allowance (money) and money management. These comprehensive games consist of many aspects of handling real life math an economic situations which can improve financial capabilities and develop good money management habits for the future. The lessons learned can benefit them in perpetuity and greatly improve many aspects of their life.

Donations to this project will help our class gain financial literacy skills and knowledge needed to ensure they have developed the skills needed to successfully navigate the financial realities they will face in the future.

Giving students financial education is one of the best ways to prepare them for the real-world challenges. These resources will help our class gain a greater understanding and knowledge in order to make appropriate decisions, ensure their security, and future well being.
