Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

These items will help me bring to life my Mexican culture/tradition of El Día de Los Muertos, with colored paper, a Mexican themed backdrop, tablecloth protectors, and more. They will be making sugar skulls, altars, paper picado, skeletons, and flowers to celebrate someone who has passed away in their lives. I want to bring the colorfulness of this tradition to my classroom, as it flows out into the hallway so that the whole student body and staff can partake in the wonderful celebration during October and November. I also want to create a student body altar so that anyone who has lost someone can display a picture of their loved one on this school altar so that as a school we are one and recognize the different cultures we have but understand that loss comes to all of us and we can remember those that we love.
