This project is fully funded

As a fifth grade teacher I am constantly assessing my students to see if they really "get" everything that I am teaching them. I constantly assess them and reassess them and check for understanding. However, the most effective way for me to check for understanding is to use white boards. Small, personal white boards allow the students to write down their answer, then hold it up and show me the answer they believe is correct. When 19 boards go up and see that 17 out of 19 of my students get it, then I move on because I've seen the majority of my class has mastered that material (but of course later I go back to those two and re-teach). It is amazing how much excitement a 10 or 11 year old can get out of using a white board versus a piece of paper. It also allows them to quickly correct mistakes and re-write. White boards and markers are very expensive and the students go through the markers incredibly quickly. My students could really benefit in every subject area I teach (math, literacy, writing, science, social studies) from the use of white boards. For this proposal I would need 19 white boards and 57 markers (3 per student).
