Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are creative, curious 7th graders who enjoy thinking about how the world works—and how it could work better. As part of our Future Cities project, they’ll be designing their own cities from scratch. To help them imagine what a city might look like in the future and what it would need to survive, we want to read The City of Ember together as a class. This novel provides a vivid example of a city built underground, complete with its own power system, food supply, and challenges.

Reading The City of Ember will not only engage my students in meaningful literacy work, it will also spark ideas for their own city designs—encouraging them to think critically about resources, sustainability, and community needs.

Your support would help provide a class set of books so all students can participate fully in this experience. Thank you for helping bring this project to life!
