This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Children, Are you ready to Imagine and Create it!
My students are very curious 5-6 year old from a low socio-economic community.
The majority of our students are English Language learners. Our school community has worked hard to provide leveled books for our students as well as math manipulatives needed for our every day instruction. However, I would like to provide the students a creative block area where my students can go to during independent work time and develop their skills in creating and manipulating the various shapes.
My Project
I am asking for magnetic building blocks and an area rug, so that my students will have an area to learn how to manipulate shapes and use their imagination and work alongside their peers to create wonderful items. Through creative play the children will develop their listening and speaking skills as they communicate with their peers.
In a time when every child wants an xbox or video game, it is essential for children to realize that with blocks they can achieve many hours of fun.
These magnetic blocks will allow them to develop critical thinking skills through manipulating and creating images.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
