Our library is the center of learning in our diverse population. Our students visit the library often for a variety of reasons and we want to continue to serve them. BS is a large urban public school with almost four thousand students in the high school alone. BS operates its own school system for the city's approximately fifteen thousand, six hundred students
We are the city of champions and want to continue being that!
Our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with over eighty percent of our students receiving free lunch. Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best. They want to be in school because they want to learn all they can, so they can be successful one day. Our school serves students in grades kindergarten through eighth and provides rigorous academics, fantastic teachers and a safe learning environment.
My Project
My students need the lower leveled books to read in my classroom. I have 30 English Language Learners in grades four and five. Many of my students come from all over the world including Greece, Brazil, and Afghanistan. They came to the United States to learn.
Many of my children are new to the United States and only have been here for a few months.
I need books in order for them to start reading so they can succeed here in the United States. If the students have those books to read they will be able to learn more English!
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
