Our school has around 800 students, aging from PreK3-8th grade, and our STEAM department services nearly all of them. My name is Kristen Wiggins and I am the STEAM and GT teacher for a Title 1 charter school.
Our STEAM program focuses on helping students foster creativity, critical thinking, and real-world problem-solving skills.
By blending technical subjects with artistic expression, students gain a more well-rounded education that encourages innovation and collaboration. We are also passionate in preparing our students for a possible future in STEM.
While we have been graciously supplied with many amazing educational resources over our 3 years of building the program, our students have spoken (loudly!) and would love to explore more into the world of 3D printing. We have already learned how to engineer and design 3D objects in a CAD system, but we currently can't print them, as we do not have a 3D printer.
After extensive research, I have concluded that our students would most benefit from a Bambu Lab P1S 3D printer. This printer has software that is very easy to implement for the students and even has a camera inside so that the students can see their design as it is being created.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
